Our great friends at the Rogue Fest have something different and sustainable in mind for you this season: the Rogue Fest Winter Workshop Series! Starting Nov. 26 there are five amazing workshops by five amazing local facilitators at five different venues ALL FREE of charge! Subjects covered include Raising Livestock, Outdoor Planter Design, an authentic Aboriginal cultural and eco-tourism experience, making a Little Free Book Library, and in the Creek, Sunday Nov. 28 at noon, Waste Not! Trash to Table Workshop at our own Roberts Creek Legion #219. Simple and fun ways to reduce food waste through discussion, cooking, and games. This week at our little Legion, the Hook rock out Friday the 12th, and on Saturday Nov. 13 it’s Honky Tonk Rockers: ‘The Coffin Dodgers’ with Vancouver’s voice of country rock, Randall Mayer; Johnny Burton of Doug and the Slugs, Joe Rotundo of the Modelos and session drummer Frank Nichols. Only $10 members, $20 guests. Coming next Friday Nov. 19, Sunshine Coast hard rock band Phantom Limb Syndrome share the stage with Vancouver’s cowboy rock band Uncle Nestor. Singer-song writer Rodeo Jonze kicks off the night, doors 7 p.m. $8 members, $15 guests. Book your place at rclegionevents.com
Other happenings, Legion wise: Tuesday Night Jam: Players of all skills and genres welcome, acoustic, and electric Hosts Michelle Morand & Alex Rolland, 7 to 10:30. And if you are ready to dive in deep, the greatest little legion in the country could use your awesome energy on their board! Nominations are open for president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary and three member-at-large positions. Stop by the branch and submit your nomination to staff by Nov. 18. Include contact information and the full name of the nominee. The nominating committee will ensure that they are eligible to run in accordance with branch bylaws and a list of nominees will be posted on the website and at the branch by Nov. 21. Elections will take place in person, by secret ballot, on Dec. 5 between the hours of 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. All members in good standing are invited to cast their vote!
It has been a stormy week, but not nearly as tasty a storm as the one your Community Association is cooking up! The Nov. 26-28 Christmas Craft Fair is fast approaching, and your baked goods donations will be greatly appreciated to add to what will be a delicious weekend, and with the list of vendors on hand, a fair rendition of Santa’s Workshop! Cliff Gilker is open again, a reminder that all dogs must be kept on leash in the park! Not everyone is as comfortable around loose dogs as you, especially leashed dogs.
