With the sales deadline looming and just one more Rotary Cash Calendar to sell, Gibsons Rotary club member Larry Belsito approached his next-door neighbor, Jane Orrom and suggested she buy the last of the 2,800 calendars that were available for purchase.
“Of course I will,” she replied. “But just so you know, I’ve been buying these Rotary calendars for years and I’ve never won anything!”
Until now. Jane’s luck changed on New Year’s Day when the winning stub from that calendar was drawn for the top prize of $3,000. As a good neighbor, Larry made a house call and presented the cheque to Jane and her dog, Maggie. “What a great neighbour,” said Jane. “We should all have one like Larry!”
