Celebrate the holiday season this Saturday with the third annual Walk to a Victorian Christmas presented by Linwood House Ministries from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 4.

This fun, community event will be held rain or shine at Linwood House (3144 Linwood Road in Roberts Creek).

Walk Linwood's long, curving driveway through the woods to find many scenes to delight the senses:drama, treats, crafts, animals and music from: In Good Company, Lynne Dickson's Music Makers Choir and the Suncoast Singers.

This festive fundraising event for Linwood House ($5 per person or $20 per family), is also an opportunity for organizers to say Merry Christmas and show appreciation to the community for the support given throughout the year.

Linwood House continues to host 'The Journey' -three-day retreats where women from the streets of Vancouver come to Linwood House and build relationships. When they return home they can stay connected through the 'Great Room' in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver -a place of peace; rest; conversation; laughter; creativity; music; reading; prayer; photography and education. It is a place where gifts, talents and dreams are realized and shared with one another. Women are encouraged to make positive choices on their personal journeys and become better equipped to build into the community and world in which they live.

Walk to a Victorian Christmas is an opportunity for families in the community to experience the beauty of Linwood House and its grounds, have fun and learn about current activities such as the "Radical Hostess" program begun during the 2010 Winter Olympics, and the new project "Clean the World" where the women are employed recycling soap from hotels into new product for countries in need.
