Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a healthy and happy celebration. Now that the holidays are behind us, many community activities resume their regular schedule.

Friday Movie Night returns tonight (Jan. 7) with Lady and the Tramp followed by Calendar Girls. Community hall doors open at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

The Thrift Store returns to normal business hours of Wednesday and Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. Donations are being requested and can be dropped off during thrift store hours.

Now that the new year is upon us, why not consider some new activities? The Egmont and District volunteer fire department continues to need volunteers. Weekly practice takes place Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Please consider volunteering for this essential community service. Garden club planning continues. Pat is helping to organize people, location and other needs, so contact Pat or Doug Elliott if you would like to join the club.

Monday Rec Night at the hall resumed this week. Russ and Dani will be co-ordinating Rec Night while Nicole is on leave awaiting her new family member. Following Rec Nights, Monday floor hockey takes place in the hall at 8 p.m. There is a nominal fee to participate.

Contact Russ and Rory for details.

Please remember that the Egmont Heritage Centre remains closed until March. The Back Eddy Pub is also operating on reduced hours and is open Saturdays only through January and February.
