This summer, YMCA Camp Elphinstone campers and staff in session were asked to participate in a video project funded through the YMCA innovation fund.
The fund supports projects that create or enhance programs, create engagement in the community, or help improve the YMCA in an innovative way. The YMCA Camp Elphinstone team received funding to complete a lip dub video, engaging campers, staff and alumni in a fun and interactive way to showcase camp as a fun, active environment for kids.
Although making the video was an extremely fun and rewarding project for the YMCA Camp Elphinstone team, the underlying goal is to increase awareness of YMCA Camp programs and the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
Through donations from generous donors and volunteers, 400 campers from low-income families to were sent to summer camp in 2012. Without the support of the YMCA of Greater Vancouver Strong Kids Fund, these campers, who make up approximately 25 per cent of the total summer registration, would not have had the opportunity to participate in an outdoor camp experience and build friendships and memories that will last a life time.
Watch, share and support the hard work put in by the campers, staff and volunteers who participated in the creative process and help bring awareness to the YMCA Camp Strong Kids Campaign at the video link on YouTube at http://youtu.be/6ZGl-4H0ECg.
