Trivia night returns

After a two-year hiatus, pet-lovers (and other fun-lovers) will again have the opportunity to compete for prizes and glory, and at the same time help the cause of small animals in our communities.

After a two-year hiatus, pet-lovers (and other fun-lovers) will again have the opportunity to compete for prizes and glory, and at the same time help the cause of small animals in our communities.

Originally organized locally from 2007 to 2009 on behalf of Renaissance Animal Rescue, the revived and updated event is designed to raise awareness and funds in the service of spay and neuter programs for small animals on the Sunshine Coast. The beneficiaries of this round are Happy Cat Haven, and Pawprints Animal Rescue.

Trivia Night Fall 2011 is scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Sechelt Senior's Centre.

Doors open at 6:30 and the game begins at 7 p.m. The entry fee is $20 per individual, and this game will be limited to 20 tables of eight people each. Every table has been sponsored by local businesses, adding to the fund, and others are supplying marvellous prizes, some to be won in the course of play and the rest through a limited raffle and as door prizes.

Entry includes a complimentary light snack and tea and coffee, and the bar is open as well. At natural breaks throughout the evening, the crowd is encouraged to participate in a number of party games guaranteed to inspire laughter. A cherry on the cake, the MC is Gibsons Mayor Barry Janyk, who has proven a hit (and a fount of bad jokes) on every previous occasion of Trivia.

Put together a team, or buy a ticket and join your neighbours at a table. Every previous Trivia night has been sold out and has provided an evening of old-style community fun. The prizes are great; bragging rights for the winners priceless. The price of admission goes directly to a worthy cause.

Tickets are available at Gibsons Pet Foods and Quality Farms in Gibsons and at 101 Office Supply in Sechelt.
