Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear writers linked across a continent and several coasts read from their work when authors Miranda Pearson and Robert Alan Jamieson come to Sechelt on June 22.
Pearson was born in England and lives presently in Vancouver. She has taught creative writing at the University of British Columbia and at Simon Fraser University.
The Aviary, her second book of poetry, received the Alfred G. Bailey Prize in 2006, awarded by the Writers Federation of New Brunswick. Her third book, Harbour, was nominated for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize (BC Book Prizes) in 2010.
Jamieson is a Scottish and Shetlandic poet and novelist who grew up in the crofting community of Sandness. He teaches at Edinburgh University and was co-editor of the Edinburgh Review from 1993 to 1998.
His four novels include A Day at the Office, named by the Edinburgh-based List magazine as one of the 100 best Scottish books of all time and Da Happie Laand (2010), short-listed for the Saltire Prize and the SMIT Scottish book of the year award.
His latest poetry collection is Nort Atlantik Drift, recently reprinted in a bilingual Shetlandic/English edition. He is presently researching an intriguing connection to the great B.C. ethnographer James Teit.
Coast poet John Pass will introduce the authors. He read with them last summer at the Whitehorse Poetry Festival.

The readings take place at 8 p.m. next Friday at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt.
