Pender Harbour

The 2022 edition of the immensely popular Rotary Calendar is out. The price is just $20 a calendar. Email lwareham13@telus.net to order yours today! One can also enter the daily draw, $20 each day of the year; 365 chances! There’s $14,400 to be won in all. Proceeds go directly to community good; bursaries, learning equipment and youth sports.

For the past four years, generous community donations to the “Spreading Kindness Fundraiser” (previously Adopt a Youth) have helped the Pender Harbour Community School and Families Support Program assist youth and families throughout the year. Donors gave extra help to those in need at Christmastime. Donations were distributed to and by our PH food bank, PH Lions Club, Egmont Lions and Egmont Community Club. This year the need has increased. Lyn Charlton has partnered with the Pender Harbour Rotary Club to provide a link where community members can donate securely online: portal.clubrunner.ca/1875/donate. Cheque donations can be sent to Pender Harbour Rotary, Box 40, Garden Bay, BC, V0N 1S0. Email transfers can be sent to phrotarydonation@gmail.com. John Henry’s Marina and Resort will contribute to the fundraiser from Nov. 12 to Dec. 12 when you purchase wine and beer: $1 per bottle of wine and $.50 from a six pack of beer.  Let our caring community spirit shine through again this year!

The debut of Sunday brunch and live music at the Legion last weekend was an enormous success. This Sunday, Nov. 28, brunch is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then the outstanding Poppa Greg Band will own the stage 2 p.m. to 5 pm. There’s a $5 cover at the door.

A Merry Christmas Faire encore, by request, will once again fill The Hall with fantastic favourite and new artisan vendors, non-profit society exhibitors and live music hosted by the Pender Harbour Community Club on Dec. 11. Doors open at 10 a.m. and the fun will continue until 3 p.m. I look forward to seeing you there. Do not forget to wear your Christmas Sweater!
