Students in the BladeRunners program would like to thank all the hardworking people in the local Sechelt shops for their assistance in helping them gain valuable job training.

BladeRunners is a youth employment and life skills training program supporting young people entering the workforce. The students held their graduation ceremony this Friday, July 27.

As part of the cashier training workshop, students were assigned to drop in to various small businesses around Sechelt to observe and learn what common behaviours and attributes make for a successful employee in that sector.

While students learned much from every place visited, they learned some particularly valuable lessons from businesses where individual employees displayed exceptional customer service and cashier skills. The students would like to offer thanks to: Wheatberries for their politeness, Seaside Video for their friendliness, 420 Hemp Shop for their knowledge, Starbucks for keeping a good attitude under pressure, Talewind Books for their customer concern and Your Dollar Store With More for always being cheerful and helpful.

The BladeRunners program of summer 2012 students noticed several good and helpful little things that will assist them to become better employees in the future. Most importantly, students learned that it always pays to be friendly and polite to every customer because customer service is our business.
