The Sunshine Coast Salmonid Enhancement Society (SCSES) needs your help.
The non-profit, volunteer-run organization that has been operating the Chapman Creek Hatchery on the Coast since 1992 continues to be dedicated to restoring and sustaining Salmonid populations on the Coast.
The society is in need of better signage and requires the help of the community to assist them in winning a North America-wide contest with FastSigns.
The society can win signs worth up to $10,000 and will allow the society to install easily recognizable professional-quality signs around the Coast to help more people discover the hatchery and what they do.
You can cast your vote between now and Sept. 2 by voting every day if you wish. FastSigns enters each voter's name into a weekly draw to receive one of six instant prizes of $50 American Express Gift cards.
See www.fastsigns.com and scroll down to entrant 482 or for more info go to http://scsalmon.org/.
The hatchery is mostly funded by memberships from individuals, sponsorship by many Coastal small businesses and corporations doing business in the Sunshine Coast region. The society receives grants from the Town of Gibsons, the District of Sechelt, and the Sunshine Coast Regional District, and also receives help, guidance and funding from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).
The hatchery and gift-shop are open from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., they offer tours around the hatchery during the day and also sell trout and help children fish.
