Share tips in drought gardening session

Panel Discussion

Worried about your garden drying out? Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden offers a panel session Monday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m. with tips and strategies to help gardeners get through the rest of summer. There will also be suggestions on long-range plans to cope with drought in years to come.

Participants will hear ways to collect and use gray water, how to use effectively what little water they have, how to reduce stress on plants, and ways to enjoy the garden even though it’s dry. The Botanical Garden is doing its best to conserve water too, and our volunteers have come up with some clever ways.

If you have a tip to offer, bring it along for a chance to win a prize. The smoke from the Sechelt fire has underlined the need to conserve the regional water supply for our basic needs, and we know we need to learn new methods.

Admission is by donation at the door, $5 suggested. Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden is at 5941 Mason Rd. in West Sechelt, and is open for summer hours Friday to Wednesday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., by donation. Members enjoy unlimited visits plus many extra perks.
