Pender Harbour tree faller and part-time cat rescuer, Jesse Hawkins, was called to Garden Bay on Friday, April 16, to rescue his second cat of the week. Gitty had spent 24 hours 15 metres up a fir tree and was showing no sign of wanting to descend to safety. Being a professional tree faller, Jesse had all the gear to successfully get the cat out of the tree, including a giant long-handled net. Once he had Gitty safely trapped in the net, he quickly descended and reunited the cat with his owner. Hawkins’ number for rescues is 604-399-4733.
