Sechelt Hospital Foundation’s Art of Healing fundraising gala (Oct. 21) will once again be in person.  The theme this year is a tropical vacation, with our top raffle prize being tickets for two to anywhere Air Canada flies in North America or the Caribbean—choose your own sunny destination.

A very limited number—only 36–Collector tickets ($600 each, for two attendees) and 50 Supporter tickets ($75 per person) are available as of Sept. 1 at sechelthospitalfoundation.org. As in previous years, the exhibit of the 36 works of art donated by esteemed and generous local artists will be on display during the entire Art Crawl (Oct. 20 to 22) at the Botanical Garden. Collector ticket holders can browse their potential choices and consider the live auction packages, and members of the public can enjoy seeing the works and buy raffle tickets. On the night of the gala, ticket holders will enjoy tasty appetizers by Nomadic Kitchen while making their final tour of the art. When the gavel falls, collectors will get set to select their preferred painting.  When their number is pulled, ticket holders will have only 90 seconds to make a choice and, of course, the selections are reduced by one each time a number is chosen. The pace is fast, and every collector will go home as the owner of a fine new piece of art and the great satisfaction of having made an important contribution to local healthcare.

Following the art selection, a variety of high-value experience packages will be auctioned off by auctioneer Ed Hill. Attendees will bid on vacation accommodation in Mexico, an eco-resort stay, an Indigenous paddling experience, art classes, golf games, chocolate making and even a Secret Cove boating/fishing/dinner party for eight hosted by the foundation directors.

The grand travel prize raffle is open to everyone, online, until Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. Packages of tickets in various affordable denominations can be purchased at artofhealing.splashdot.com/. Again this year, the prize will be accompanied by a cash travel bonus of $5,000 and travel planning services courtesy of TravelOnly. The winner of this prize will be drawn and announced immediately following the close of the live auction.
