The Gibsons Community Building Society is pleased to bestow the annual Darren Entwistle Community Builder Award to honour outstanding leadership in helping to build a healthy, caring and vibrant community.

Past recipients of this award are: Gerry Zipursky, Wayne Rowe, Darren Entwistle and TELUS, Judy Rother and Errol Lipschitz and Brian Smith.

The award was named in 2019 in appreciation of the unwavering support of Mr. Entwistle, president and CEO of Telus and honourary chair of the Society’s Board of Governors.

We are extremely proud to bestow the 2022 Darren Entwistle Community Builder Award on the Reeves Family in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Gibsons Building Supplies, the longest-serving family-owned business on the Sunshine Coast. This award was announced at our annual Gala this past Saturday.

Gibsons Building Supplies, established in 1947, is now under the leadership of the family’s third generation. CEO Julie Reeves is following in the footsteps of founder Dick Fitchett and her father, Barrie Reeves.

Gibsons Building Supplies continues with the family tradition of “neighbours helping neighbours” with an unwavering dedication to the health and vitality of our community supplying critical goods through two locations in Gibsons and Sechelt being a valued employer and as a significant contributor to local charities and community groups.

Gibsons Building Supplies also played a significant role in helping build Gibsons Public Market.

Congratulations to the Reeves Family and Gibsons Building Supplies for being the recipient of this prestigious award.
