The Sunshine Coast Centre (SCC) of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) invites youth on the Coast to dazzle with their artistic creativity and scientific knowledge in a poster contest.
The theme is Deep Sky and should depict the wonders that can be viewed with telescopes in the skies above the Sunshine Coast. The posters will be displayed at the upcoming Deep Sky Star Party for RASC members on July 29 to 31 at the SCC Observatory. Details of the party can be viewed at sunshinecoastastronomy.wordpress.com
The winning posters will be used to promote the event and will be posted on the SCC website. Entries must be submitted to the centre by July 15. Prizes include (age nine and under category): Celestron 76mm Firstscope reflector telescope kit; (age 10 to 18 category): Meade 76mm Jupiter reflector telescope kit.
Winners of both categories will also be invited to the Deep Sky Party to view the skies using the Observatory’s telescope.
