The Petits du Pacifique childcare centre in Sechelt has welcomed a new staff member – artist and early childhood educator Philippe Sokazo. Before moving to the Sunshine Coast earlier this year, Sokazo was an educator and administrative principal assistant at the childcare centre of the André-Piolat French School in North Vancouver.

“We are thrilled to have Philippe join our staff at the preschool. He brings a passion and dedication to early childhood education that is very important to the board and families of our preschool,” said Kara McDougall, president of the board of directors for Les Petits.

Philippe’s love for the Sunshine Coast brought him to Les Petits, where he can continue to pursue his interest in teaching and working with children.

“I am honoured to be working alongside program director Renée Lachance at Les Petits,” he said. “At Les Petits, I am continually inspired by the important role I can play in the social and intellectual development of the children.”

In addition to his new role at Les Petits, Sokazo has also begun to immerse himself in the local cultural scene by opening his art studio to the annual Art Crawl, and designing one of the new Hydro box art wraps in Sechelt.

As a licensed French-language childcare centre, the goal of Les Petits is to ensure that children gain French language skills in a fun and supportive learning environment. Contact Les Petits du Pacifique directly for more information. Lachance and Sokazo speak both French and English and would be happy to answer any questions. Find Les Petits du Pacifique on Facebook, or send them an email at [email protected].
