Bargain Barn will open for the first time this year Wednesday, March 2, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and carry on Saturdays and Wednesdays, same opening hours.

Our community has come back to life at warp speed. This past long weekend was crazy busy, like the July long weekend in February. Enormous thanks to all you amazing frontline folks so graciously going above and beyond.

Live music is back at the Legion. Sunday afternoons 2 to 5 p.m. there will be a party, yes indeed a dance party. This Sunday, Feb. 27 Half Cut and The Slackers will take the stage while you show your best moves on the dance floor. There’s a $7 cover charge at the door. More great news, the Pender Harbour Blues Festival returns this June for three days of fantastic music.

I am so excited, my favourite place to shop the Bargain Barn will open for the first time this year Wednesday, March 2, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and carry on Saturdays and Wednesdays, same opening hours. Donations are now accepted Fridays at the Hall 1 to 3:30 p.m., two bags of new or gently used, saleable items. Visit the BB website for more information including a link to their eBay store. There is no better time than now to become a BB volunteer. The Bargain Barn was established in 1976 and continues to contribute thousands of dollars to our Pender Harbour Health Centre and student bursaries.

March activities hosted by Seniors Initiative; Carpet Bowling on Wednesdays 1 to 3 p.m. and Chair Yoga Mondays and Fridays 11 a.m. to noon with Maureen Clifford. Harbourside Friendships Thursday, March 3 will be all about fun and games. Learn how to play Rummoli, Yahtzee and Scrabble from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Activities are all at the Hall.

The 77th May Day 2022 is a go with a new, inspired, energetic committee keeping the best of the traditions and infusing some great additions.

Save the dates for more Pender Harbour Community Club events: Saturday Madeira Market will happen starting April 2, Spring Plant Sale and Vendor Village is April 30, Fall Faire is October 1 and Christmas Faire for 2022 is Nov. 12. All events at the Hall and courtyard. These are fundraisers for maintaining our beautiful heritage (aging and needing TLC 24/7) Community Hall. Artisans and non-profit societies welcome. Rotary 50/50 this month will generously support The Hall so please buy your tickets online now! The Hall is now available for your special events and can host up to 200 people. Visit the Pender Harbour Community Club website for rental details.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 26 the Celebration of Life for the beautiful superstar Rose Ellen Nichols will be held at 1 p.m. at the Pender Harbour Community Hall. In the coming weeks, in lieu of flowers you can donate to the Rose Ellen Nichols Scholarship in the Performing Arts. More information to come.
