Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week. Looks like it will be a little damp these next few days so bundle up and stay warm.
A local business in Halfmoon Bay has some amazing creations to offer, especially for that special someone for Christmas. Roxy Rox has a wide selection of crystals, minerals and fossils, some natural and some fashioned into extraordinary works of art. Roxanne McIntosh said, “I started collecting stones and pretty rocks when I was a kid. Collecting is almost an obsession now.” Roxanne and her husband Chris began carving for the fun of it and love creating and sharing. “Sometimes stones just look like something already so we just help with the details.” Their collection is filled with finds from all around the world. Roxanne and her children also paint stones and leave them as little treasures in the community – not just in Halfmoon Bay, but along the Sunshine Coast from Sechelt to Powell River. Recently, someone advised Roxanne that the Happy Birthday stone they painted was found by someone on their actual birthday! How cool is that? Contact Roxanne at [email protected] or call 604-741-7903. You will love what they have to offer!
The Families in Need campaign hosted by the Halfmoon Bay Community Association is moving along at an amazing pace with incredible donations coming in. The original modest goal of $5,000 has been exceeded but let’s not stop there. Jay Davis, coordinator of the campaign, says, “we are hoping to add another $2,500 so that the Halfmoon Bay Community School breakfast program can be expanded to include a lunch program.” Some of the funds will also be allocated to Christmas hampers made for families in the community that may need a little more this festive season. Visit https://ca.gofundme.com/f/halfmoon-bay if you would like to donate. All donations are greatly appreciated and will go to those that need it most.
Want to view a spectacular Christmas light display? Well look no further than 7925 Eureka Place. The owners have worked tirelessly to make this year extra special for all to enjoy. The display runs every night from 4:30 to 8:30 and until 9:30 on Friday and Saturday nights. You will be thrilled and amazed at this incredible show, which has taken Paul countless of hours to sequence and build. Check out their website laberge.christmas for more information. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank. All donations are very much needed and appreciated!
Don’t forget about the 2020 Sail Pass that is being organized by John and Lynn Smith (Hiballer Marine) on Sunday, Dec. 20. If you would like to join in the cruise with your boat, simply send a note to Lynn at [email protected] with 2020 Sail Pass in the subject line. So far, 11 boats have signed up to participate. As there is a public health order for not having social gatherings at this time, all participants will remain on their own vessels, with only their household members on board. If viewing from shore, please keep in mind all COVID-19 safety protocols and social distancing rules. Final details will be included in next week’s column.
Have your “Say at the Bay,” please contact me before 5 p.m. on Mondays. [email protected]. Be kind, be gentle, be safe.
