1952 - 2024

Stephen “Steve” was born on November 26, 1952 in Kenmore, New York. He passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 after a sudden decline in his health. Steve was only 72.

Steve was predeceased by his mother, Florence McCarthy, who introduced him to jazz, classical and post-war big bands.

Steve attended Burlington Central High School, graduated and followed his passion for music. He spent his early years hanging outside blues bars and jazz joints, learning his instrument from some of the greats until he was invited onstage. The rest was history, he was hooked. Steve spent the rest of his life “playing to live and living to play.” He made music friends where ever he went, from Ontario, New York, California, Alaska, Haida Gwaii, then the South Coast. He was a gifted guitarist and his knowledge of the world startling.

Steve will be greatly misses by his jam buddies, friends and fur babies.
