'Mom lived well and gardened hard. As a pioneer of the Sunshine Coast, she will be missed.'

July 2, 1929 - May 19, 2025

Faye was born in West Sechelt to Johnathan and Ella Wood, older twin to Genevieve Page. She is survived by her six children: Linda (Rod), Dennis (Margaret), Peter, Maralyn, Joy, Chris (Lynn), thirteen grandchildren and four greats.

Mom and her six siblings free-ranged through the woods, berry picking, cow chasing and over the hill to Wakefield. Mom attended West Sechelt Elementary at the corner of Norwest Bay Rd. and Winter Rd.

As a very young woman, Fay worked for Mrs. French in her tuck shop/gas station, Rockwood Lodge and the Post Office. She also worked at Naramata Fruit Processing. Fruit cocktail was NEVER served at our table! Mom volunteered for many community projects: PTA, Sechelt Hospital Auxiliary, Heart and Stroke Foundation and  One Straw.

Faye married Niels Hansen in 1948. They moved to the farm on Mason Rd 73 years ago, where she lived, worked, played, raised children, gardened, sewed projects, and came up with projects (some good ones, some not so good).  Mom loved to row out to the Trail Islands to fish. (Be aware, if you went, you most likely would not get back before dark!). As kids, we all remember piling in the Travelall with picnic baskets, bassinets, and neighbourhood kids, off to Wakefield or Fleck’s Corner beaches for a big bonfire.

Later in life, she enjoyed fishing tours and trips to Barbados with her companion, Jack Rundle.

Mom lived well and gardened hard. As a pioneer of the Sunshine Coast, she will be missed.

Thanks to VCH and all who helped Mom stay on her farm well into her 90s and to Silverstone for all their support.

Celebration of life July 5th at 12:30 - 6104 Mason Rd (back field). Potluck picnic at 3:00.
