'Irene lived a remarkable life filled with many experiences and adventures. She worked as a medical lab technologist, volunteered for many causes, obtained her private pilots license, had many hobbies, enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling and shopping, loved to cook, bake, and entertain in her home, but most of all she cherished spending time with her family and close friends.'

Irene passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family at the age of 92. She was born in Hafford, Saskatchewan to parents Tom and Mabel Bligh. At the age of five, the family relocated to North Vancouver where Irene grew up and met the love of her life Walter. They moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1960 where they raised their family and made many friends. Irene lived a remarkable life filled with many experiences and adventures. She worked as a medical lab technologist, volunteered for many causes, obtained her private pilots license, had many hobbies, enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling and shopping, loved to cook, bake, and entertain in her home, but most of all she cherished spending time with her family and close friends. She was a loving mom and grandma, and had a smile that would light up the room.

She was predeceased by her husband Walter and brother Tom. She is survived by her son Julian, daughter Mary, grandchildren Conner (Madison), Maya and Zachary, daughter-in-law Shannon, son-in-law Paul, and many extended family members. She will be forever loved and missed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jane Bishop for providing care to Irene over the years. They would also like to thank her close friends who supported her unconditionally. A special thank you to Fely Wray for the wonderful care and companionship she provided to Irene during her last few months.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the Spring.
