Obituary: Gerhilde Stulken

'At the age of 19 she began working as a high-fashion model and then accepted an offer from a large clothing manufacturer in Stuttgart, Germany as a part-time model, part-time purchaser. She then met her husband Dieter Stulken and they married on March 24, 1956. Together they immigrated to Canada in 1957.'

June 30, 1933 - January 19, 2023 

Survived by her husband Dieter Stulken, sons Michael (Sarah) and Peter (Natali) and grandchildren Katrina (Matt), Andrew and Amelie.  Predeceased by daughter Ingrid.

Gerhilde was born on June 30, 1933 in Ehingen, a small town in Germany. At the age of 19 she began working as a high-fashion model and then accepted an offer from a large clothing manufacturer in Stuttgart, Germany as a part-time model, part-time purchaser. She then met her husband Dieter Stulken and they married on March 24, 1956. Together they immigrated to Canada in 1957. They lived and raised their family in the Greater Vancouver area until 1998. Dieter and Gerhilde then moved to the Sunshine Coast where Gerhilde was able to focus on her artistic endeavours and became a well known Watercolour Artist.  

Over the past 73 years Gerhilde was also an active Jehovah’s Witness and enjoyed sharing positive encouragement and scriptural comfort with numerous individuals.

Her husband of 66 years, immediate family and extended family miss her very much!

The family would like to thank Dr. Simon Reznick, Dr. Sara Wadge, Dr. Suzanne Walter and all of the nursing staff at the Sechelt Hospital who always showed so much care and compassion to Gerhilde during her time there.  

Memorial Service will be begin at 12:30 pm, February 25, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 6384 Norwest Bay Road, Sechelt, BC.
