It is with deep sorrow, that we announce the passing of a beautiful man, Geoffrey Francis Boese on April 10th, 2023.

Vancouver born, Geoff moved to the Sunshine Coast in the 1980's where he married and raised a family. Founding one of the first organic produce stores on the coast, the Galiano Market, he then built a thriving produce department at Clayton's Heritage Market which he managed for 30 years. His knowledge and passion for organic gardening began on his family's farm on Galiano Island, a continuous thread woven throughout his life.

Geoff's nature was hardworking, enthusiastic, and entrepreneurial. In addition to Clayton's, he had several businesses: building houses; landscape gardening; and owner/operator of an excavator on Galiano. His generosity knew no bounds - showing up tirelessly, whole-heartedly, and unconditionally for his community. All the while squeezing more joy out of life than most. Geoff met every challenge with his genuinely positive attitude and unwavering good energy. Meeting his life, and death, with such beauty, grace, courage and wide-openness.

He will be deeply and forever missed by family and friends. Many of whom he mentored about the natural world. The depth and breadth of his knowledge was remarkable. Even as a kid his nickname was the "walking encyclopedia"!

Everyone who knew Geoff knows his bright light will live on in the forest, the ocean, and every rip-roaring bonfire. Family meant the world to him. And he meant the world to us.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 4th, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Mission Point House in Davis Bay.
