Mom passed away quietly and peacefully at her home in Halfmoon Bay just days before her 89th birthday.

Born into a large Maritime family in Canso, Nova Scotia. As a young woman she pursued a career in nursing which led her to her real passion which would be Homecare.

She moved from Atlantic to the Pacific arriving in Vancouver where for the next 15 years she raised a family, all the while working privately to help people in all aspects of home care.

One more move to the Sunshine Coast in 1974 where she became one of the first Home Support Workers for the Sunshine Coast Home Support Society. Mom became well known for her desire and skill to help people live in their own homes.

She lived happily in her Halfmoon Bay home with her dogs and cats, of which she had many over the years. She had a great love for all living things. Her family, friends, animals and garden were her focus in her retirement years and her friendships extended near and far.

She will be greatly missed by her family: Andrea Richmond (Bruce) and Brent Strad (Ruth), her sister Sondra Ferguson, brother Ernie Bond, aunts Alice Cashin, and Thersea Boutilier, uncle Wilford Snow, and six nieces, Margaret, Vadie, Glendora, Rosetta, Erin, and Christina, and nephew, Derek.

Thank you to all the neighbours and friends who helped mom stay living in the home/community she loved so much.

A special thank you to the Welcome Woods Coffee Gang and the staff of Welcome Woods Market. Mom's morning coffees were the highlight of her day.

Mom will be sorely missed at On Q Acres and On Q K9 Training as she was a valued member of our farm and dog training teams.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Hilda's Anglican Church at 12:30 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2023. Reception to follow in the church hall. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sunshine Coast Hospital Auxiliary.
