Albert F Reeve, P Eng: Born in 1936 in Toronto, O.N.; died June 2, 2025 in Gibsons, B.C. Bert grew up in Northern Ontario [Abitibi Canyon, Timmins, New Liskeard and North Bay] Loved snow and ice. Played hockey, skied, canoed explored the countryside on foot and went fishing in the spring. Got first summer job at 15 and worked another 45 years. Graduated from the Provincial Institute of Mining at Haileybury, ON and received BS degree in Geological Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1961. In his lifetime, the all consuming focus became finding a producing mine. He worked and travelled in every province and territory of this country and slept under canvas in many places. He loved Canada.

In 1963 it was a journey west to British Columbia with first wife Susan and business partner Ron Granger, looking for work as an independent mineral exploration contractor, a rookie from the flat lands of the Precambrian Shield to the mountains of the Cordillera. Vancouver was a rough cut little city with many exploration offices and store front brokerage houses downtown. The post war mineral boom was in progress. It was a great adventure for a young man.

In 1986 he attended the pouring of the first gold bar at the Blackdome Mine in British Columbia after directing exploration and mine development there for nine years.

In the 1980’s he helped his dear wife Linda operate a small farm near the town of Gibsons, BC on the Sunshine Coast, then in 1996 retired to a place in the village on the sea shore. He skied, swam, cycled, rowed, read, wrote, followed the mining business and enjoyed old friends and family in his declining years.

Bert’s life was endlessly possessed by the work of searching for ore deposits. He was variously tolerated and loved by a large extended family. He leaves behind: beloved wife Linda; son Tim Reeve and his daughter Olivia; daughter Elizabeth Reeve, her husband Jon Myles, their children Annie and Isabel Myles. Linda’s children: Maria Taylor and her husband Michael; Colin Risebrough and his wife Cristy, their sons Matthew, Andrew and Christopher; Karen Webb, her husband Justin and their children, Hilary, Vanessa and Rachel.

Bert’s ashes will be spread on the Gulf of Georgia.
