It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sid - beloved husband, father, and proud shíshálh elder. Sid was a truly remarkable person. It was evident to all who knew him that he had a strong connection to culture and community - generously sharing his knowledge, lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it, and creating a vast network of friendships worldwide. The loss of someone so wonderful and genuine to the core has left an immeasurable void for those he left behind. Our heartbreak is a testament to the amazing, bright, and open person he was. Sid filled his days with music, fishing, hunting, foraging, carving, drum making, picture taking, phone calling, playing with his grand-dog Parker and walking to his favourite places with his favourite people. He would stop along the way to admire the landscape and ask, "What do you see?" He prioritized quality time reminding us to slow down, take a moment to connect with each other and the swíya that he dedicated his life to protecting. Sid's career as Resource Management Director for the shíshálh Nation was an immense source of pride, often taking the form of a life purpose rather than a job. He achieved a great deal of success during his tenure, and his wealth of knowledge was held in high regard. His primary goal was to work toward a result that was in the collective best interest, believing "It is not what you take, but what you leave behind." His legacy will live on through those fortunate enough to have known him. We will carry on his teachings and treasure the memories we are so lucky to have. He is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Sheryle (Travis), siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends. Forever loved, forever missed, forever in our hearts until we meet again. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2025, at 11:00 am at the shíshálh Nation Hall.
