The Battle of the Dojos karate tournament took place on Saturday, May 13, at Elphinstone Secondary School in Gibsons, B.C.  Nearly 200 competitors, ages five through 60, from Sechelt, Powell River, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge, and Vernon participated in the annual event. The Canadian Martial Arts Academy of Powell River took home the winning trophy and our local team, Sunshine Coast Martial Arts Centre, came in second place.  Chilliwack Central Karate Club, Maple Ridge Karate Centre and North Star Martial Arts Academy finished third, fourth and fifth. A huge thank you to those who volunteered their time to make this event a great success and to everyone who came out to cheer our team on.  The Battle of the Dojos will take place in Powell River next year.
