The Gibsons and District Public Library is hosting two workshops designed to engage the public in writing, storytelling and interactive movement.
The first is this Saturday, Nov. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. featuring Marshal Veal, a registered clinical counsellor and author as he presents writing and sharing our true life stories - an introduction to narrative life enrichment.
Narrative life enrichment is a program that brings people together for the purposes of sharing, writing and further developing our life stories -the stories we have lived - the preferred lives we may envision and the kind of future we hope for. And as with the plot in any good movie or novel, reflection upon life events can lead to new action and outcomes.
This is an opportunity to explore and gain insight into how your life's stories have developed, where you are now and where you wish to go in life.
In this free introductory talk, you will begin to reconsider the past, understand the present and imagine or plan for the future: all aspects of our unfolding life stories. The next workshop is laughter yoga facilitated by Sunghee Lapell, a laughter yoga leader, on Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Laughter yoga is a series of playful, interactive movement and breathing exercises designed to stimulate laughter and cultivate an inner spirit of joy. Sessions are designed tohelp people connect with their inner child and experience being joyful and playful.
Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and get ready to giggle and guffaw with gusto.
Both sessions are free. Call the library for more information at 604-886-2130.
