Ladies Auxiliary donate to Easter Seals Camp

Gibsons Legion

Gibsons Legion No. 109 Ladies Auxiliary president Lera Schwindt recently presented Joe Brady a cheque for $2,500 to pay for a camper going to BC Easter Seals Camp in Squamish.

The Easter Seals Camp for Children with Disabilities is sponsored by the Lions Clubs. The camp provides free overnight summer camping experiences for children with physical and mental disabilities from B.C.

Every summer about 750 children go to camp for one week at a cost of $2,500 per child. The camps are designed to build confidence and independence through recreation where the focus is on ability and not disability.

Ladies Auxiliary members are proud to be able to donate to the community with the money earned through their catering, raffles and meat draws.

They also donated to St. Bart’s food bank and Salvation Army food bank and will be giving two bursaries to Elphinstone Secondary graduates and one bursary to an Alternative School graduate.

If you wish to help the Legion veterans and the community, please think about volunteering your time and talents to a worthwhile organization.
