Ivan Sayers, fashion historian extraordinaire, is presenting 150 Years of Fashion in Canada at the Sechelt Seniors’ Centre on April 28 at 2 p.m.

A pre-eminent voice in Canadian fashion history, Sayers, past curator of the Vancouver Museum, is renowned for his collection, which is more than decorative, as his presentation addresses an array of topics, from history’s impact on fashion, to the Gibson Girl era, to 1960s hippie culture. The presentation features models wearing clothing from Sayers’ extensive, curated collection, with “the status of wastage” and “beauty by impairment,” to name only a few of the subjects of this impressive show.

The show is a Canadian Federation of University Women bursary fundraiser.

Tickets are $35; admission also includes tea with “dainties,” a chance to bid on some of the Coast’s loveliest gift baskets and a chance to just have fun. Tickets are available at Swish and Landing Clothing (Gibsons), Cactus Flower (Sechelt), by email at [email protected] or by calling Claire at 778-928-1176.
