This Sunday, Nov. 18, Sunshine Coast BCSPCA hosts a fundraiser called Pints for Paws, 5 to 8 p.m. at the 101 Brewhouse and Distillery in Gibsons. You can purchase advance tickets for $20 at spca.bc.ca/sunshinecoast-pintsforpaws or just arrive in person. Great beverages, great food, great cause! Worth the drive. Remember you can always help animals in need at the shelter by donating your refundables at G.R.I.P.S. and dropping some change in BCSPCA boxes at G.R.I.P.S., IGA and Madeira Park Veterinary Hospital. 

Tuesday, Nov. 20, join the Pender Harbour Wildlife Society when they welcome Jason Colby, author of Orca: How We Came to Know and Love the Ocean’s Greatest Predator. Orca features whales of Pender Harbour as well as several local interviews. This book is sure to be of great interest to historians, mariners, naturalists and local families. Jason M. Colby, PhD, is associate professor of Environment and International History at the University of Victoria. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at Pender Harbour Senior Secondary School. Harbourside Friendship, Thursday, Nov. 22 welcomes a favourite performer all the way from Texada, Skinny Jimmy! Come join in music and merriment. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. at the PH Hall. Lunch is served at noon. Drop in $10.

A very special event happens Sunday, Nov. 25, the Fall Feast Community Dinner. Bring the family and share a meal with friends, 5 p.m. at the PH Community Hall. Dinner will be served, but do bring a dessert to share if you can. 

Christmas in the Harbour officially arrives Friday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m. with the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in downtown Madeira Park. 

Serendipity Christmas Craft Fair is Dec. 1 and 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. There are about 30 vendors, raffles, 50/50, lunch and more. Start your Christmas shopping and enjoy two days of family fun. 

For your last-minute shopping, mark your calendars for Dec. 15, the date for the Community Club Christmas Craft Fair. This is a fundraiser with proceeds going to maintain the Pender Harbour Community Hall that we all know, make good use of and can’t live without!
