This Saturday, Nov. 5 is the 15th annual Rotary Art Auction at the Legion. Tickets are $25 (includes tapas from 5 to 7 p.m.) and are available at the Legion and from Rotary members. Silent auction viewing is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. for free admission. Live auction starts at 8 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to assist at Madeira Park Elementary School preparing simple snacks from 8:30 to 9 a.m. each school day, and to read one on one with kids in grades 1 to 3 to help improve their literary skills Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays 9 to 10 a.m. Contact the Community School at 604-883-2826.

At Women’s Connection Tuesday, Nov. 8, Kenneth Norman Johnson will talk on My Musical Journey. Imaginative, inspirational, thought provoking and deeply emotional, the creative work of Johnson is enjoyed by musicians and audiences around the world. Johnson, now the director of the Pender Harbour Choir, will share plans for the choir and his vision for performing arts in the community. Join in 10 a.m. at the School of Music. Join Seniors Initiative at the Hall Tuesday Nov. 8 at 10:30 a.m. for Walking Tuesday, an easy-paced exercise program. On Wednesday, carpet bowl from 1 to 3 p.m. Har-bourside Friendships on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. will test your musical memory with Name That Tune. Lunch is served at noon for $10. Yoga Fridays offer floor mat exercises and chair yoga.
Remembrance Day is Nov. 11. Wear a poppy and remember those who have served for our freedom. Help support veterans, seniors and your community. Legion volunteers are out distributing poppies. If you would like to help for an hour or two, contact the Legion at 604-883-2235.
Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House on Friday, Nov. 11 welcomes to the stage Kenny Dunn and Anna Green performing original acoustic music to quench the soul, Joan and Ted with their original West Coast sound on vocals and guitar, father and daughter duo Colin and Gracelynn Mailey, Tamara Goble and Roy singer/songwriter on banjo and guitar performing folk/country and pop/rock. Doors open at 7 p.m. music at 7:30 p.m. at the School of Music $10 suggested donation at the door. Coffee and goodies sold.
