The Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary would like to thank everyone who bought a raffle ticket. Thank you for your support. We all need the hospital at some point. Raffle winners are: Danielle Junean - $300, Karen Baker - $200, and Brian Lee - $100.

Quiz night this Friday, June 17 at the Legion, sponsored by PAC, is a Fort McMurray fundraiser. Come early for dinner; kitchen closes at 7 p.m. The quiz gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

Celebration for Seniors on Wednesday, June 22 starts at 10:30 a.m. at the P.H. Community Hall. Bring a friend or caregiver and enjoy the photo booth, door prizes and a free lunch at noon. Thursday, Harbourside Friendship meets at the same location at 10:30 a.m. and invites everyone to take part in a lively group discussion.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary, the Pender Harbour Reading Centre is hosting a reception with David Lee, author of Chainsaws: A History and Commander Zero, on June 22, starting at 4 p.m. Attendance is by donation; seating is limited. Pender Harbour Days, July 8 to 10, is fast approaching. This fun-filled weekend offers wooden boat and heritage displays, music, lots of activities for kids and the entire family.  Check out the website for a complete schedule of activities: www.penderharbourdays.ca. More vendors are needed for Saturday, July 9. Two competitive events are scheduled this year: an oyster shucking contest, open to all, and an old-fashioned log sawing/chopping competition, open to teams of two. A Community Organi-zations Showcase is being planned by the Pender Harbour Advisory Council for Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the P.H. Community Hall as part of Pender Harbour Days. This event will give organizations in Pender Harbour a chance to connect with the community, explain their programs and solicit new volunteers. Please register, free of charge, by June 25 at penderharbouradvisorycouncil.com, or call Karen at 604-883-9415.

Enjoy great service from the staff at GRIPS recycling, and while there, do another good thing and donate your refundables to the BCSPCA.
