Tomorrow (Saturday, May 21) is the 71st Pender Harbour May Day Festival. The parade is 11 a.m. and the action never stops. The Kid’s Korner and Big Kid’s Korner are jam packed with outstanding games and activities. There is a huge field of vendors with arts, crafts, foods and many other treasures for sale. Enjoy a pancake breakfast then follow up with lunch at the Legion Barbecue behind the Hall. Music throughout the day will be provided by Poppa Greg & The Chillin’ Dylans. Visit the Gallery too just across the road on Gonzales and take in the start of the members show.

Saturday at The Legion Meat Draw the Pull The Ace Jackpot is up to $1,000. The garden patio is open and the interior of the Legion has been freshly painted for this big weekend. In the evening dance to the music of A.D.D. from 8 p.m. Admission is $10.

Sunday is the 15th Annual Attack of Danger Bay Longboard Race. Take the shuttle from the Oaktree to the race site.

This week Seniors Initiative brings you Carpet Bowling Wednesday 1 to 3 p.m., Harbourside Friendship Thursday starting at 10:30 a.m. is “Show and Tell” time. Lunch served at noon for $10. Yoga Friday has Floor Mat moves 9 to 10 a.m. Chair Yoga at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All activities at the Hall.

More players are needed for Thursday Night Bingo at the Community Hall or it will end forever.

The Community Hall is the hub of our Harbour events and activities. Bingo revenue provides the funds for the upkeep of the Hall. Show your support. Have fun and win some money! Doors open at 6 p.m. Games begin at 7 p.m.

The Pender Harbour Women’s Connection presents the Pender Harbour Hikers – now into their sixth year and with over 50 members. The group has scheduled morning hikes twice a week, year round, on trails throughout the Sunshine Coast community and has a Facebook page to share members’ photos and experiences. They now have a large grant from the Sunshine Coast Community Forest to erect trail kiosks and maps. Come and hear all about this dynamic group on Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at the School of Music.

The annual Women’s Connection Spring Luncheon will be at Rockwater Secret Cove Resort in the scenic Seascape Room, on Tuesday, June 7, at noon. Escape for an afternoon, with friends, for an outstanding three-course luncheon and your favourite beverage as you listen to the waves lapping the shore and the wind moving through the trees. The Pender Harbour Golf Club is initiating a golf program for charity starting in June. This Friday night league runs 12 weeks with four-person teams playing various nine-hole games. All prize money will be donated to the charity chosen by the winning teams. Information available at the pro shop at 604-883-9541.
