Tonight (Friday, April 15) is Quiz Night organized by the GRADS at the PH Legion following fish & chips dinner. A $25 entry fee for a team of up to five. Come out and enjoy the fun. Also coming soon to the Legion: Giant Garage Sale, April 30. Donations will be accepted from April 26 on. Please no electronics or books.

Sunday, April 17, the Pender Harbour Music Society presents Brandon Isaak. He is now internationally recognized as Canada’s emerging blues superstar. Styles range from delta slide to rollicking country blues. Tickets $25 available at Harbour Insurance, Sechelt Visitor Centre and online at www.penderharbourmusic.ca.

Pender Harbour Wildlife Society presents “Mountain Gorillas of NE Rwanda” with Dana Jantzen on Tuesday, April 19, 7 p.m. at Pender Harbour High School. Volcanoes National Park is known as a haven for the mountain gorilla and was the base for the American zoologist Dian Fossey, who undertook an extensive study of mountain gorilla groups over a period of 18 years. Dana will be presenting close-up photos of adults & babies, in relationship to each other and to her, in this misty landscape, home to five of the eight volcanoes of Virunga Mountains. Refreshments will be served. Open to everyone. No membership required. It’s always nice to see new faces at the presentations. Updates at info@penderharbourwildlife.

This week lineup of Seniors Initiative activities are: The Walking Group, April 19; meet at the mailboxes on Kent Road at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday is Carpet Bowling 1 – 3 p.m., $3 drop-in. Thursday’s Harbourside Friendship at 10:30 a.m. welcomes speaker Michelle Morton presenting a demo and workshop on Share-There.com with the help of the Community School and the Chamber of Commerce. If you have a portable Internet device, please bring it along. Lunch will be served at noon for $10. Yoga Fridays drop-in is $2. Yoga using floor mats is 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Chair Yoga 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The PHCS has great programs for you. Yoga at Sarah Wray Hall with Carol Goulette – Thursdays to April 21 from 1-2 pm. at SWH: $15 drop-in rate. Household Budgeting Workshop with Janet Falk Monday, April 18 from 7-9 p.m. at the Community School – $10. Make a budget and learn tricks to stay on it!  Examine your expenses & revenues. Computer Café: computer security with Karen Dyck Tuesday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Sarah Wray Hall – $10. Protect yourself and your data from loss or contamination, avoid hoaxes & scams! Learn to be a treasurer with Janet Falk Tuesday, April 26 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Community School - $10. Learn the essentials of bookkeeping, accounting and the Societies Act.
