Thank you to the fantastic hostesses at EarthFair Store, Dale and Mika, BCSPCA Princess and Mascot, the beautiful bakers, Roosendal Farms and all those who generously donated to Pender Harbour’s BCSPCA Cupcake Day last Saturday – a pawsitively enormous success. The event hit it out of the (Madeira) Park with over $800 raised to help prevent animal cruelty and heal those recently seized mill dogs and cats.
On Tuesday, March 8 at 10 a.m. at the School of Music, author and physician Eric Paetkau (The Doc’s Side: Tales of a Sunshine Coast Doctor, Harbour Publishing, 2011) will dip into his well-worn medical bag and tell us stories of the history of medicine and of his own varied career as a doctor in Pender Harbour and afterwards.
Here’s what P.H. Community School has coming up: free income tax assistance for eligible individuals, Tuesdays in March and April, 9 a.m. to noon at the Community School. Seniors Initiative’s activities this week include the perfect indoor sport for our rainy season, carpet bowling, Wednesday, March 9 from 1 to 3 p.m., Harbourside Friendship on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., Friday chair yoga, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All events are at the Pender Harbour Community Hall.
Eight singers standing in a half circle, facing each other and singing a cappella – this is music intima, one of Canada’s truly important choirs. Monday, March 14, Pender Harbour Garden Club’s first meeting of the year will feature Dave Stiles of Sunshine Coast Wildlife discussing the shoreline naturalization work being done on the Coast, 1 p.m. at Pender Harbour School of Music. Everyone is welcome.
