This coming Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m., experience the magic of puppetry as the Women’s Connection presents Luman Coad discussing his five-decade career as a professional puppeteer. Coad and his late wife Arlyn formed Coad Canada Puppets in 1966 and were quickly recognized as one of the leading North American puppet theatre companies. Coad will illustrate his discussion with an assortment of puppets, including his very first string puppet.

Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. the Pender Harbour Reading Centre presents Kara Stanley, author of Fallen: A Trauma, a Marriage and the Transformative Power of Music. Stanley will be accompanied by her husband, Simon Paradis. Tea, catered by Doug Davis, will follow at 2 p.m. Admission is by cash donation, proceeds going to the P.H. Community School food program.

Bingo! Come out, win some money, and have some fun! Doors open at 6 p.m. with bingo from 7 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Players are needed to keep the game going.

The Seniors Initiative has carpet bowling Wednesday 1 to 3 p.m. Harbourside Friendship on Thursday Feb. 25 welcomes Skinny Jimmy and Friends providing great entertainment. Yoga Fridays for 55-plus starts at 9 a.m. and chair yoga at 10:30 a.m.

Come Dance with Us is a special event on Friday, Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at P.H. Secondary. Everyone is welcome to join the students and Latin dance instructor Sandra Cordero.

The Pender Harbour Legion will not hold their Saturday meat draws Feb. 20 and 27 but will be open for lunch. Sunday meat draws and Pull the Ace will be business as usual.

Calling all fabulous cooks and bakers. Saturday, Feb. 27, I am hosting a bake sale, National Cupcake Day, a BCSPCA fundraiser, in downtown Madeira Park. I am making cream puffs, pupcakes and more. Contact me if you would like to make a sweet or savoury treat for this wonderful cause.
