The School of Music Coffee House offers a varied lineup of accomplished local musicians the second Friday evening of each month. The donation at the door supports and encourages newly established and emerging artists, who provide terrific evening shows at the cabaret-style theatre.

Flair on the Coast will have their first meeting of the year this Saturday, Jan. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. Guest speaker Susan Ferron, owner of Insightful Visions optometry, will talk about the effects of cancer and chemo treatments on the health of the eyes and what can be done to counteract these effects.
On Tuesday, Jan. 12 there will be a follow-up session for the Community Food Plan meeting at the Legion 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Three weekly events coming up on back-to-back days at the Pender Harbour Community Hall get rolling with carpet bowling Wednesdays 1 to 3 p.m. at the Hall, for a $3 drop-in.
Harbourside Friendship will explore New Year traditions of other cultures this week, Thursday, Jan. 14.

The Pender Harbour Wildlife Society will hold its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at PHSS at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Tony Greenfield, leader of Whiskey Jack Tours and renowned birding expert. He will report on the results of the annual Christmas bird count. This meeting is also the AGM of the Society. Elections will be held for positions on the executive and for directors. Tickets are now on sale for the 40th annual Burns Night, Jan. 23 at the Madeira Park Legion. The evening’s celebrations will include poetry, dinner and entertainment from the Coast Fiddlers and the Legion Pipers. Tickets are $35 available at the Legion and Harbour Insurance.
Pender Harbour Women’s Connection will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 26, when Lyn and Bill Charlton will talk about their amazing 13-year sailing voyage around the world.
