If you are reading this today, April 1 and want to compete at the April Tools Boat Building Competion on the 30th, today is your last chance for the Early Bird entry fee of $180 for a team of four. This weekend at The Legion it is Friday Night Dinner with Eddy Edrik on stage entertaining you from 6 p.m. Fuel up at Sunday Brunch, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Dance Party starting at 2 p.m. and rocking the place until 5 p.m. with one of the Coast’s favourite bands, Playback! Cover at the door $5. 

The Pender Harbour Rotary extends heartfelt thanks to all who donated to the Rotary Ukraine Disaster Relief Fund at the Pender Harbour Legion, $3,000 in donations matched by our District Rotary; total $6,000. Also, sincere thanks to all the Pender Harbour Legion dedicated volunteers and staff. 

Another good news story is about a young man and his fundraiser. Ben Ellerton is a Grade 9 student at PHSS living in Madeira Park and a Scout with the 6th Roberts Creek Scout Group. He recently crafted a plan for a “Trunk Sale” as part of the requirement to achieve his “Chief Scout Award,” the highest award and presented by the Governor General of Canada. Please come out and support Ben’s “Trunk Sale” this Saturday, April 2, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Legion in the parking lot. Proceeds will go to the PH Community School. Well done Ben! 

FibreWorks Studio and Gallery opens their season April 2,  with “Staking Ground” an exhibit from Amber Friedman and Erin Cobham. Come to the yurts Wednesday to Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to enjoy this beautiful exhibit and learn about all the great events and classes throughout the season. The Madeira Market will launch its 2022 season next week,  Friday, April 8, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Courtyard at the Hall. Artisans, Beads and Blooms, Judy’s Handicrafts, Blushing Llama, and Kristina Wushke are some of the fabulous vendors attending with their wonderful creations. Come visit! Come shop! Enjoy an oh so delicious lunch at Tony’s Triple BBBs. The market hosted by PH Community Club is a fundraiser for maintaining and improving our precious Hall. Entertainers bring your talent and tip jar. Non-profit societies welcome, no charge. For more info call 604-989-0851. 

The Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House at the School of Music returns the evening of April 8 with a lineup of superstars, including “Them Ordinary Things” Simon Paradis, Kaia Nelson and Mark Lebell and songstress and pianist Patricia Burnett. Doors open at 7 p.m. Music 7:30 p.m. $10 suggested donation at the door. Masks required. Kitchen is closed so BYOC (bring your own coffee). To perform call 604-741-1186.
