Entertainment this weekend at The Legion starts off tonight, Friday, March 18 at 6 p.m. with the funny, and very talented Eddy Edrik. Sunday, following at Brunch, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Peter Van Trio take the stage 2 to 5 p.m. Put on your dancing shoes and join the fun. Cover charge at the door $5.
Harbourside Friendships, Thursday, March 24 will also have a special live music performance by the Pender Harbour Pipe Band. Come for coffee or tea at 10:30 a.m. and enjoy the music to follow at the Hall.
On March 28 at 2 p.m., please join the Pender Harbour Reading Centre at their AGM when they announce the “Books ‘N’ Blooms” event. The fundraiser for the centre will be a self-guided garden tour on Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit six very different gardens including a unique waterfront property, a sculpture garden and a woodland retreat. Tickets are $25 available at EarthFair or www.penderharbourlibrary.ca on or after March 28. Limited to 100 participants.
Pender Harbour Music Society is delighted to be presenting their first concert in many months, at the School of Music on Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m.: The Fretless, a Juno award winning folk band. Tickets are available online at www.penderharbourmusic.ca, Harbour Insurance in Madeira Park and at Strait Music in Sechelt. PHMS is carefully following the PHO orders and guidelines of the day and have a COVID plan in place, which includes a maximum capacity of 60 for the remaining concerts of the season. The Rose Ellen Nichols Award in Performing Arts will recognize annually one Canadian Artist aged 18 to 40, pursuing a career in Opera performance or in costume design. Please visit the Facebook page for details and how you can donate in honour of this shining star.
The Pender Harbour Health Care Auxiliary through the Bargain Barn has earned more than $1.3 million from its 46 years of operation. The majority of their income is donated to the Pender Harbour Health Centre and they support local bursaries for our high school students.
Pender Harbour Community Club memberships support the care of our precious community Hall. This well used, much loved and enjoyed gathering place is an aging heritage building needing constant costly repairs and maintenance. Please, everyone, renew or sign up for a new PHCC membership; they are just $5 single, $10 family. Membership forms are available on bulletin boards at the IGA shopping centre, or I can email you one. Completed forms with payment can be dropped off at Thursday Night Bingo, Harbourside Friendships also Thursdays, and Tony’s Triple BBB’s or mailed in or etransfer payment to [email protected].

March through April 30 you can take advantage of the Volunteer Income Tax Program right here in Madeira Park at the PH Health Centre and PH Community School three different ways, walk-in tax clinics, drop off and by appointment.
