FLAIR on the Coast will be held this Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m. to noon at the Rockwood Centre in Sechelt. It will be an open forum this month when they welcome everyone to share their stories or a one-on-one. Also, Barbara McAllister, Sound Bath Meditation, will be dropping by to quickly outline what the vibrations from gongs do to our bodies for those who would like to try it. FLAIR is completely non-profit. They generously offer a wig library for loans of wigs, plus head scarves, etc. This cancer support group welcomes both men and women receiving cancer treatment, those who have been through it or caregivers in the Pender Harbour/Egmont area, to join them. Let’s dance! The Pender Harbour Women’s Connection welcomes the merry month of May with line dance instructor, Krystyna Wisniewska, Tuesday, May 13, at the School of Music. Her extensive dance skills and inspiring teaching talents have garnered a keen following of Sunshine Coast fun seekers to her classes. She will give a brief history of her background and then, with her students, present a line dance demonstration. Come join in to learn the health benefits of line dancing, such as improving memory and coordination, the movements involved, or enjoyment of watching the dance. This will be a morning of good fun and great moves. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. at the School of Music $4 drop-in fee includes refreshments.

Yes, indeed the 80th Annual Pender Harbour May Day will be here Saturday, May 17, just a week away! As the longest running event on the Sunshine Coast, B.C., May Day to say the least, is an immensely popular event in the community.

The day kicks off with a 4 km fun run, kids fishing derby and pancake breakfast, followed by a parade through Madeira Park at 11 a.m. and a day filled with games, music and good times.

This year’s theme is: FLASHBACK ‘45: BACK TO OUR ROOTS. Dress up like it’s 1945 in Pender Harbour, or wear anything that is a nod to our roots in logging and fishing. Welcome back former May Queens as special guests this year!

The 20th Annual Pender Harbour Blues Festival June 6, 7 and 8 is less than a month away. Buy your tickets now as some events are already sold out. So lucky to have bought mine as soon as they went on sale! Can’t wait! Tickets and information at phblues.ca.
