Fall Faire is here! Come join the fun and festivities in downtown Madeira Park on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be traditional favourites and new events and a multitude of free activities for kids. For all the details, see www.penderharbourfallfaire.com

The Vancouver Welsh-men’s Choir is returning. The concert hosted by the Pender Harbour Choir will take place at the Pender Harbour Community Hall on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. showcasing an exciting program by the renowned 70-voice choir including songs with and by the Pender Choir. Tickets are available at the EarthFair Store or at the door by calling 604-886-1945.

Sunday, Oct. 5, take in a movie matinée of Labyrinth, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Hall brought to you by the Pender Harbour Community Club. On movie night, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., Aviator will be the feature presentation. Popcorn and refreshments will be available with all proceeds going to Future Youth Group. Sharon Halford and Marlene Cymbalist will present a workshop, Improving Community Connections for Seniors, at Harbourside Friendships get together Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall. Thanksgiving lunch will be served. Call Cathy at 604-883-9760 for more information.

The Pender Harbour Reading Centre’s annual Bucks for Books fundraising campaign begins in October. The Centre has operated for 48 years, staffed entirely by volunteers, and funded by donations and annual memberships. Continued community support is much appreciated. All donations to Bucks for Books are used to purchase books for the Centre’s collection.

Tickets are going fast for Oktoberfest at the Legion Oct. 18. The general meeting will take place the same day at 2 p.m. Come for the meeting and stay for the meet draw. Thanks to all who came to a very boisterous and successful ham and turkey draw and pie auction last Saturday. Becky’s chicken pot pie went for a record-breaking $150! The Rotary Art Auction will change venues and host their event this year Nov. 8 at the Legion.
