Harbour-Egmont Highlights: Creator of ‘Child’s Own’ coming to Women’s Connection Mar. 12

Coffee House tonight, Friday, March 8, will highlight outstanding local performers Soleil duo, Nancy Pincombe and Ken Johnson, and the exceptionally talented singer songwriter, guitarist from Earls Cove, Matt Richards. Doors open at 7 p.m. at the School of Music. Music at 7:30 p.m. $10 minimum suggested donation at the door. 

Sunday Music at the Legion has the fantastic Steve Hinton Band on stage from 2 to 5 p.m. $10 cover. 

Next meeting for FLAIR on the Coast will be held this Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m. to noon at the Rockwood Centre in Sechelt. Guest speaker Dr. Philip Kraukamp, ophthalmologist, will talk about problems that may be experienced with our eyes as we age and after chemo treatment. Kraukamp came to the Sunshine Coast from South Africa and joined Dr. Brian Nelson’s practice in Sechelt in 2017.  Flair Cancer Support Group welcomes both men and women and is completely non-profit. The Pender Harbour Women’s Connection is pleased to announce that Wendy Tsao, retired businesswoman, will be speaking at their March 12 meeting. Wendy grew up in Quebec, studied architecture at McGill University, and worked around the world as a decorator artist before settling in Vancouver. She noticed the delightful characters that appeared in her son’s artwork. When he entered Kindergarten, Wendy decided to develop a business of creating stuffed toys from children’s drawings and the company “Child’s Own” was born. Wendy is now a resident of Pender Harbour. She will bring along some examples of her extraordinary work. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Drop-in fee is $4. Refreshments will be served. 

Egmont Thrift Shop current hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday to Saturday; Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society brings you April Tools 2024, April 27, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Seafarers Millenium Park. Register your team of four for the competition now at the PHLHS website. Adult team entry fee is $180 before April 1 and $200 after that date.
