Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week and were able to stay warm and dry. Lots of precipitation in the forecast so be safe out there.
Today, Friday, Jan. 13, there is a Halfmoon Bay Community Hall information and consultation session at the Halfmoon Bay Elementary School at 8086 Northwood Rd from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. This session is co-hosted by SCRD Area B Director, Justine Gabias and the Halfmoon Bay Community Association (HBCA). Justine and HBCA board members will help you learn more about the three site options listed in the SCRD survey. For background information of the Coopers Green Hall Replacement Project and to complete the survey, go the SCRD website at letstalk.scrd.ca/coopers-green, scroll to the bottom to access the survey. Be sure to complete the survey before Friday, Jan. 20. If you have any questions or comments for Justine or HBCA, please send an email to [email protected] or [email protected]. Complimentary nibbles and beverages will be provided by West Coast Nibbles and there will be a Kids Corner to keep the young ones busy while parents participate in interactive activities.
The results from the survey will be compiled and SCRD staff will present those to the board in early 2023. At that time, staff will seek a decision from the board on the final site for the hall so that the project can commence. Please join your neighbours and the community for this informative session on the future of a Community Hall in Halfmoon Bay.
Did you make a new year resolution? As we navigate through these first couple of weeks in January, some resolutions may already be forgotten. Resolutions such as visiting family and friends more often, be kind to ourselves and others, read more books, balance our budgets, commit to a healthier sleep routine, start and continue an exercise program, choose better food options and lose weight, the list is endless. There are many stats on how soon resolutions are abandoned in early January and the success rate can be quite low moving into February. It is suggested to persevere and set goals that are realistic. Be proud of your accomplishments today, whatever they are and strive for more successes tomorrow and the next. Smile, breathe, stretch and keep going! You can do this!
If you have any ideas for column content or have a community event or story you would like to share, please send ideas and suggestions to [email protected].
Be safe, be gentle, and always be kind.
