The Let It Bee Farmstand of Halfmoon Bay

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week while we continue to enjoy this lovely summer weather. At the time of writing, we are still in Stage 2 water regulations and hope that we will continue to conserve as much water as possible so as not to move into Stage 3.

Check out this awesome farm stand in Halfmoon Bay! The ‘Let it Bee more than honey Farmstand’ located at 7980 Cooper Rd. is a family collaboration that began during the pandemic two years ago when they purchased the property here in Halfmoon Bay. Caitlin shared, “My husband Keith and I took to beekeeping and we got into ‘all things bees’ from honey to candles and salve.” They have been busy working on their love for homesteading with bees, chickens and quail along with a large garden and are happy to share their bounty with the community. Caitlin grew up just down the road on Redrooffs and went to the Halfmoon Bay Elementary school when she was a child. “We are grateful to be able to raise our kids in this amazing community that we call home.” You will find many home-grown and handmade items at the Farmstand such as honey, candles, salve, baked goods, produce and more! If you have any questions, contact them at [email protected], call 604 741-5356, facebook.com/letitbefarmstand or Instagram @letitbeefarmstand, they would love to hear from you! Better yet, visit them at the stand Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. They hope to continue well into the fall/winter season.

The second Lazy Daze Music Series at Coopers Green Park last Friday was a huge success. This three series music event is organized by the Halfmoon Bay Community Association (HBCA) along with many volunteers and sponsors. The HBCA board would like to send out a HUGE thank you to all that made this event a success. “Our volunteers, the main stage musicians and the sound guy Simon Paradis (for pulling it all together), the Aqui Es Mexico Food truck (who had his work cut out for him as there were over 75 dinners sold!), our sponsors Spani and Crowe Mackay, and as always, mother nature for a spectacular sunset to close off the evening.” The third and last of this music series is on Friday, August 26 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Coopers Green Park. Check their website at halfmoon-bay.ca for all the details and for upcoming events in the next few months.

On a personal note, I would like to acknowledge and thank my lovely friend Kim Howcroft for filling in for me while I was away on a much-needed extended vacation. Her columns were entertaining, informative and enlightening and I hope you enjoyed reading them as much as I did. We love the peace and quiet of Halfmoon Bay, though at times it is difficult to find interesting topics to share but with Kim’s research and creativity, she managed to submit great stories along with some Halfmoon Bay history. Thank you, Kim, you are amazing and very much appreciated!
