Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

The dance party is coming up, May 26. Doors open at 7 p.m., music 7:30 p.m. This will be a fantastic fun night sponsored by Halfmoon Bay Community Association. Monty Montego and the Rocksteady Crew will bring the tunes that could be described as pre-reggae music from Jamaica or even as Motown meets reggae. It’s definitely dance music.

Tickets are now on sale at HMB General Store, Welcome Woods Market and Pastimes. This show will sell out. If you have tickets you cannot use, please email [email protected].

A thank you celebration will be hosted by Halfmoon Bay Elementary School on June 5 at 2:30 p.m., in the school gym. This is their volunteer thank you, to the community volunteers who have been so wonderful in helping with the Santa Breakfast, Easter Egg Hunt, Business/Crafters/Garage Sale and many other events during the year.

Coming to Coopers Green Hall June 29 is the touring group from Peterborough, Ont., Pat Temple and the HiLo. Russell deCarle and Steve Briggs thought our audience would appreciate and welcome them into our community. Tickets will go on sale June 1 at HMB General Store, Welcome Woods Market, and Pastimes in Sechelt.

Halfmoon Bay Fair is July 8. The theme will be Nautical; wear your best costume as prizes will be given. There will be a silent auction with excellent items to bid on. Anyone wishing to contribute should contact Toni Morris at [email protected]. Vendors wishing to be included should contact Lori Wishlow at lori
[email protected]. Anyone interested in helping out with children’s games at the Fair (maybe HMB School alumni??), please call Wendy at 604-551-846. Other volunteers who would like to play, please contact Cindy Kisser at [email protected].

This year, the Half-moon Bay Community Association will be hosting the Applefest and Arts Crawl at Coopers Green Park Oct. 19 to 21. Artists wishing to exhibit their creations and vendors who want to set up a booth should contact Katie Angermeyer at [email protected].

SCRD chair and HMB director Garry Nohr is unable to make himself available at his regularly scheduled weekly visit at Welcome Woods Market and HMB Café. He will, however, meet anyone by appointment should they want to discuss their issues. Call him at 604-741-2427.

A special invitation is extended to all residents to a family social event, the Halfmoon Bay family dance. Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 21. This will be an event for the whole family, with dance lessons for parents and kids leading up to the event. If you are interested in being on the committee to help out and make this first dance a huge success, please contact Wendy at [email protected]. Sponsored by Halfmoon Bay Elementary School and Halfmoon Bay Community Association.

Pickleball has now finished for the season and will resume in September.

Half-moon Bay Com-munity Association will hold their AGM June 20 at Coopers Green Hall. All members are welcomed and there will be a special referendum to vote on the new bylaws.
