Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay
Halfmoon

Eighteen bodies (some doing double-duty) worked 36 hours over two days to clear Redrooffs Road and Welcome Woods of Scotch Broom. About six truckloads were taken to a burn site where the Broom will be disposed of after rain. Many thanks to those hard-working Busters and their contribution to keeping our environment natural and a special thanks to Mary Beth Knechtel for organizing the event.

The Sargeant Bay Society will host Birding on the Berm on May 19 with Tony Greenfield. Meet at Sargeant Bay parking lot at 9 a.m.

Dance Party on May 26. This will be a fantastic fun night sponsored by HBCoA with Monty Montego and the Rocksteady Crew. The genre is Jamaican rocksteady music. It could be described as pre-reggae music from Jamaica or even as Motown meets reggae. It’s definitely dance music. Doors at 7, music 7:30. Tickets now on sale at HMB General Store, Welcome Woods Market and Pastimes.

Pickleball Wednesdays 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at HMB Elementary School. Drop-in $3, first time free. Equipment is provided. For more information email [email protected], or Tim Dayton [email protected]. Both players and spectators are invited. All skill levels are welcome.

A special invitation is extended to all residents to a family social event, the Halfmoon Bay Family Dance. Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 7. This will be an event for the whole family, with dance lessons for parents and kids leading up to the event. If you are interested in being on the committee to help out and make this first dance a huge success, please contact Wendy at [email protected]. Sponsored by Halfmoon Bay Elementary School and HBCoA.

Welcome Wagon will bring community information and free gifts to all newcomers to the Sunshine Coast. Welcome Wagon also delivers free information and gifts from local businesses to families with new babies. Please contact Welcome Wagon at [email protected] or call Laurie Falkner at 604-741-1557.
