Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

On Friday, Nov. 25, you are invited to Be Safe at Home Alone, a free information session brought to your community by the Community Resource Centre and support from your local emergency service providers. The session will be held at Halfmoon Bay Elementary School from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

This community-based program features the SCRD Emergency Preparedness representative sharing practical tips and information and answering questions. The emphasis is on planning, safety and communication to increase your safety and enhance your independence at home and in your community. RSVP by Nov. 24, to Sherryl at [email protected]. For more information about this program, contact the Community Resource Centre at 604-885-4088 or [email protected]

It’s that wonderful time of year when the Halfmoon Bay branch of the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary holds its semi-annual Bake, Craft and Plant Sale on Friday, Dec. 2 at the Trail Bay Mall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are a limited number of their famous apple pies, as 96 have been pre-ordered and sold.

The third annual Break-fast with Santa happens at Halfmoon Bay Community School, hosted by HMB Community Association, on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Community School gym. Tickets will be available at the door – $6 per person, $20 per family (two adults, two children), plus an item of dry goods for the Food Bank.

The event has been extremely successful and forms a treasured part of the history of Halfmoon Bay. We hope you will attend. They are still looking for volunteers. If you would be willing to help, please email Toni Morris: [email protected]

Come check out the Scholastic Book Fair in the Halfmoon Bay School library on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. It will be open at lunch for students only and from 1:30 to 6 p.m. for everyone. All proceeds go to the school library, so it’s a great opportunity to pick up Christmas gifts and support our school.

Pickleball is at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Halfmoon Bay Community School gym.  All skill levels are welcome, and all equipment is provided. Drop in charge is $3 or $20 for eight nights. This is the last session before Christmas.

To have your say at the bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
