Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

The regular monthly meeting of the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary Halfmoon Bay branch will be held at Coopers Green on Monday, Nov. 14 at 9:45 a.m. New volunteer members are always welcome.

The Halfmoon Bay Chatelech Community School Association will host their Annual General Meeting at Halfmoon Bay Elementary School on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the school library. It’s a great opportunity to meet the two school coordinators, Abbie Corman and Wendy Pearson, learn about the Halfmoon Bay Info and Referral Centre, and meet the Early Years Coordinator for the Coast, Sue Lamb. The group will present the budget for the year at this meeting and have elections for directors.

On Nov. 17 from 3 to 7 p.m., the SCRD is hosting a workshop session to obtain feedback from the community on the development of design priorities for the Coopers Green Park hall. SCRD staff from parks, recreation and planning divisions will be available to answer questions.

In early 2016, SCRD initiated the Coopers Green Park Management Plan process to help guide future decision-making as the park continues to evolve. A public questionnaire was distributed and the community hall was identified as the top priority for improvement in the park.

The workshop will take place at Coopers Green Park hall located at 5500 Fisherman Road, Halfmoon Bay. For more information about the workshop, contact Ian Hall, General Manager, Planning and Community Development at 604-885-6812, or [email protected] or see www.scrd.ca/Coopers-Green for details of the plan.

Pickleball is at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Halfmoon Bay Community School gym, Northwood Road. Both players and spectators are invited. All skill levels are welcome and no experience is required. All equipment is provided. Drop-in charge is $3 or $20 for eight nights.

To have your say at the bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
