The Halfmoon Bay branch of the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary has its bake, plant and craft sale at Trail Bay Mall on April 30.
Roslyn Ladner, Lee-Ann Ennis and I have been noticing the early blooming of the Scotch broom in our neighbourhoods and are planning an attack starting on Sunday, 10 a.m., April 17, meeting at Coopers Green Park. There they will provide maps and strategy for the willing. Bring your loppers, sunscreen, gloves and water bottles. Button-up shirt collars are a good idea.
They plan to go out on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 – whatever is convenient for you. They expect to be able to get Redrooffs Road and Welcome Woods looking spiff in no time.

SCRD chair and HMB director Garry Nohr will make himself available Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the Welcome Woods Market and at 10 a.m. on Fridays at the Halfmoon Bay Café.
Employment opening for six Coast students during the summer – the Ruby Lake Lagoon Society is pleased to offer employment for a small team of energetic university summer students with an interest in sciences and participating with the local community in various stewardship roles.
To be eligible for employment, students must have been enrolled in full-time studies during the previous academic year and be enrolled in full-time studies in the fall.
Positions to be filled include Iris Griffith Centre education assistant, IGC biodiversity program assistant and PODS sustainability steward.
